Well if you think you suffer from hay fever just check this out! I have
heard it said that there are more species of trees within the city limits of
Atlanta Georgia than in all of Europe! I don't know about the number of
species, but here further north and on the eastern shore of Maryland we sure do
have our share of actual pollen. In April the pollen dust is so thick that
it collects like a soft blanket on the car and when it rains it looks like
blotted paint! We have to keep the windows shut to keep the stuff from
getting into the house! Then you'll know what dusting is! The
pictures here are of an actual pollen slick that came from the trees on Eastern
Neck island on the opposite shore of the mouth of Chester River from us.
As the cloud was blown south from the island it landed on the surface of the
water and got caught in the tide! By the time it got to the beach the
water looked like banana milkshake! Cool! I hope our pet swan
here likes it, maybe we'll have to hose him down!
